What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning (also known as Dermablading) is a super effective exfoliating treatment in which we use a surgical scalpel to gently scrape off any dead skin cells on the surface of your skin and (along with the peach fuzz on your face).

You might be wondering …….

Why is this necessary?

Dermaplaning is necessary due to the buildup of dead skin and microscopic hairs can make your complexion appear dull, flaky, and can even cause breakouts due to clogged pores and hair follicles.

Using a scalpel and a delicate touch, the technician simply abrades the surface of the skin using light feathering strokes. The procedure is quick with few or no adverse effects.

This is a great treatment for clients who are pregnant or nursing who want a deep exfoliation but are not allowed to use peeling agents on their skin. It is also a first choice for those of you who have excess vellous hair on the skin. This hair often causes a build-up of dirt and oils in the follicles, so removing the hair gives you healthier looking skin.

How will hair regrowth be affected?

Although merely an old wives’ tale, many are often concerned that the hair will grow back heavier and darker after dermaplaning. This is not the case. As long as the hair is superficial vellous hair (fine and usually blonde), it will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment.

Removing the top layers of the skin also allows products to penetrate more readily into the deeper layers, making it perfect for your active moisturisers and night creams.

  • Suitable for most skins.
  • The treatment results in a more refined, smooth appearance.

Make-up and tinted moisturisers will glide on easily and your skin will be glowing after a dermaplaning session.
