Micellar Water
From Julie Gamble Skin Care in Kent
So, what exactly is Micellar water?
Micellar water looks and feels very much like regular water. It’s an extremely mild cleansing solution (tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules) containing just micelle molecules and purified water, creating a make-up remover that lifts dirt, without excessively affecting the skin itself, like many other harsher solutions.
How does it work?
The micelles (the cleansing solution’s active ingredient) perform like miniature magnets, drawing out make-up, bacteria, impurities and any other dirt from the skin, allowing you to cleanse without excess rubbing and irritation of the skin.
All sounds fine but….
Anything it can’t do?
Micellar water won’t remove a full face of make-up. You can really go at your make-up with several cotton pads drenched in the product but even then, many say they still don’t feel completely clear of make-up and daily grime. So, it’s recommended to use your regular daily double cleansing method to remove tough make-up, foundation and mascara etc., and then finish with your regular toner.
There is a lot of hype about Micellar waters right now. You can even pick up Micellar cleansing wipes instead of your go-to face wipes. However, like all cleansing wipes, not recommended for daily cleansing routines, but super-handy for pre or post gym sessions and in-between sun cream application to reduce pore clogging.
The only thorough way of cleansing your skin is the two-step method, with a pre cleansing oil to lift off make up followed by your recommended cleanser to clean the skin
